For what is supposed to be a premium product. In the past you could visit and arrange for repairs on hardware – now you have to navigate Microsoft's nonsensical phone customer support and be without your laptop for a period of time.
BOD.I dunno – I'm just really sour on Microsoft shutting down their stores. Touchscreen stops working – figured that one out by uninstalling the human interface drivers one by one until it started working.
Still running strong other than the keyboard has discolored and the plastic membrane is peeling.But his series 7 has had driver problem after driver problem. Browsers, and apps based on web frameworks in general, have the least performance when running under emulation, so Chrome is kind of a device killer.In reply to illuminated:well, I never had any problems with my version five. Google does not support an Arm native version, unlike Edge or Firefox, and they likely never will. Reviews for these devices are somewhat dated now and don't reflect what is currently possible on the platform. Even so, you will occasionally find incompatible apps or hardware, so know what you are buying if you go that route. If you buy one, I would strongly recommend enrolling the device in the Windows Insider program to install Windows 11 22H2 (Beta channel currently, but at RTM). The Pro X is the ultimate choice for thinness and sleekness, has no fans, and feels great, but will be overall a bit less performant. The 7+ is based on the classic Surface Pro design dating back to the Pro 4, while the Pro 8 shares more in common with the Pro X (larger screen, thinner bezels, new keyboard, etc., though it is heavier and thicker than the Pro X). The difference is in the hardware design. Performance wise they will be very close. The Pro 8 and Pro 7+ share similar internals, having 11th Gen Intel processors.
